The Summary
Our Orlando, Florida, branch was tasked with dewatering multiple areas to allow developers to raise a section of land that will be developed for a new subdivision.
The Challenge
To develop an effective dewatering strategy, the team assessed the project scope, walked the site to identify any structures that could be affected, reviewed excavation depths, and analysed geotechnical data including soil borings, groundwater levels, and potential contaminants.
They confirmed the discharge point, checked permit flow‑rate limits, and selected the most suitable system and equipment. A key challenge was maintaining a firm, dry ramp capable of supporting heavy excavators and dump trucks throughout the excavation.

The Solution
Holland Pump installed a 6″ hydraulic submersible system to support the transfer and placement of sand needed to raise the site for the building and parking areas.
To stabilise the ramp for heavy equipment, a wellpoint system paired with a 12″ rotary wellpoint pump was installed around its perimeter, keeping the sand dry and preventing washout or undermining. Once completed, the excavated area will serve as a pond and rainwater runoff basin.
