Concrete Washwater & Hydro Demolition

With over 20 years of experience treating contaminated water across multiple sectors, Siltbuster has developed a range of Concrete Washout systems designed to tackle the challenges created during the cleaning and maintenance of concreting equipment.

Whether supporting a new batching plant, upgrading an existing setup, or managing wash water from mixer truck chutes, our solutions are known for being cost‑effective, easy to operate, and space‑efficient thanks to their small footprint and high treatment capacity.

Instead of relying on mineral acids—which are difficult to control, hazardous to handle, and can create secondary pollutants—Siltbuster uses controlled CO₂ dosing to neutralise alkaline waters safely and consistently. Our systems incorporate digital pH controllers, dissolved CO₂ injection, and robust media retention, offering safer handling, lower operating costs, no risk of over‑acidification, and no secondary pollutants.

They are suitable for alkaline waters generated from washing concrete equipment, cutting or coring concrete, hydrodemolition, surface water runoff, and crushed demolition materials.

Concrete Washwater

Roadside Concrete Washout (RCW)

The Siltbuster Roadside Concrete Washout Unit (RCW) is designed and developed to capture and treat wash water generated from the cleaning of concrete truck mixer chutes on site.

Siltbuster designed the RCW to specifically address the concerns of the Environment Agency (EA) regarding the potential harm associated with the release of highly alkaline (high pH) waters into the environment during concreting and grouting activities.

The RCW’s simple two-stage process initially separates and dewaters the waste concrete solids before its on-board automatic carbon dioxide pH adjustment system neutralises the high pH wash water down to (circa pH 6 to pH 9) limits set by the Environment Agency. The Siltbuster RCW can handle up to 30 washouts spread over a working day and can be operated via its own 12-volt battery, so no power is required, or from a 110-volt electricity supply.

Typical applications: Batch pours, Mixer chute washing

Concrete Washwater

Concrete Washout pHD

The Siltbuster compact pHD unit is designed to provide a cost-effective method of treating high pH concrete wash water on sites where space is very restricted. Although small in size, it is a great solution for both small and large construction sites to remain discharge compliant.

The unit has been developed for use with either plastic-lined builders' skips or in combination with our range of primary reception units, which include:

  • Dewatering bags for the smallest sites
  • Concrete pump washout trays
  • Crane skip washout stands
  • Concrete Aggregate Reclaimer for the largest site

Typical applications: For sites requiring washout facilities, for sites with limited space, can be used with washout skips/catch pits.

Hydro Demolition

HD Unit

The Siltbuster HD (Hydrodemolition) unit is a compact, battery-operated, easily transportable and effective solution for treating high pH, sediment-laden blast water from lance cutting hydrodemolition operations – designed and developed in direct response to requests and feedback from hydrodemolition contractors across the UK.

Our HD unit is ideal for use on roadworks or on schemes where access is limited, such as multi-storey car parks, basements, etc.

The HD unit can operate continuously at flow rates of up to 5m3/hr and be powered from an external 110V power source or its own internal battery. Powered from its own battery, it is perfect for use in remote locations and short hydrodemolition projects without the need for a generator, additional lifting equipment, and the associated costs.

Typical Applications: Hydrodemoliton, Concrete cutting, Restricted Space Sites
