Oil Water Separators (OWS)

Siltbuster has developed a range of mobile Oil Water Separators (OWS) suitable for capturing free phase hydrocarbons that both float and/or sink in the presence of water.

Thanks to their modular design, these easy-to-operate plug-and-play systems can either be deployed independently, should the waters contain only Fats, Oils or Greases (FOGs), or interconnected with other Siltbuster systems available in the range, forming a wider multistage treatment solution should multiple contaminants be present and require processing.

Whether it be the recovery of petroleum-based hydrocarbons, which require skimming from a mechanical plant leak, the settlement and capture of creosote-based compounds within water from industrial applications, or the active floatation of historical oils encountered upon remediation sites, Siltbuster has the experience and equipment to swiftly deploy the best solution for you to achieve your target discharge limit.

Coalescing Media Oil Water Separators

CM400-OWS

The Siltbuster CM400 Oil Water Separator (OWS) utilises coalescing media technology to provide effective removal of free phase hydrocarbons at high flow rates within a small footprint. It utilises an oleophilic media technology, which allows operation at a higher flow rate for LNAPL separation.

This coalescing media works by providing a surface for globules as small as 20 microns to attach to and combine, forming larger globules. These larger particles then overcome the surface adhesion of water and float rapidly to the surface.

As part of a modular system, it can be operated alongside a Lamella Settlement Unit should the feed also contain solids in suspension.

  • No power requirements and easy to operate
  • Handling flows of 40m³/hr, depending on application
  • Designed to minimise the risk of clogging
  • Proven ability to meet the requirements for both EPA Method 413.2 and European Standard EN858-1
  • Hydrocarbon: LNAPL

Typical Applications: Contaminated Tanks, Temporary OWS Replacement, Oil Water Only

Lamella Plate (inclined plate) Oil Water Separators

These integrated units simultaneously separate Light Non Aqueous Phase Liquids (LNAPLs) and Dense Non Aqueous Phase Liquids (DNAPLs) through the provision of a large effective area, owing to a series of installed inclined lamella plates.

The LNAPLs (with a specific gravity <1.0) rise up and through the water column, where an adjustable skimming bar recovers the free phase floating product and safely stores it within a dedicated chamber. The denser DNAPLs (with a specific gravity >1.0) exhibit settleable characteristics and cascade through the lamella plates, where they eventually collect and are held within the unit’s sludge storage area.

This dual capability not only makes inclined oil water separators perfect for recovering both floating and sinking hydrocarbons, but also for capturing suspended matter, which also exhibits settling properties within water, both within a single solution.

Lamella Plate (inclined plate) Oil Water Separators

HB50-OWS

The HB50-OWS simultaneously separates LNAPLs of 60 microns and larger by flotation and removes settleable solids and dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs), which sink and are collected in the base before being drawn off.

It suits cases where higher suspended solids/DNAPL are envisaged. It has a large sludge storage volume and the option for continuous online removal of solids.

  • No power requirements and easy to operate
  • Handling flows of 20m³/hr, depending on application
  • Designed in accordance with API 421
  • Will also cope with a high suspended solids/grit load
  • Twin hopper to reduce the frequency of sludge removal required
  • Integral storage tank for secure temporary storage of the recovered hydrocarbons
  • Hydrocarbon: LNAPL and DNAPL

HB20-OWS and HB40-OWS are also available

Typical Applications: Remediation of Gas and Oil Works, Continuous Pumping

Lamella Plate (inclined plate) Oil Water Separators

FB50-OWS

The flat bottomed FB50-OWS model is typically employed where the suspended solids/DNAPL concentrations are low and where equipment height restrictions might apply.

It simultaneously separates LNAPLs of 60 microns and larger by flotation and removes settleable solids and dense non-aqueous phase liquids (DNAPLs), which sink and are collected in the base before being drawn off.

  • No power requirements and easy to operate
  • Handling flows of 20m³/hr, depending on application (some site conditions allow up to 50m³/hr)
  • Designed in accordance with API 421
  • Will also cope with a high suspended solids/grit load
  • Integral storage tank for secure temporary storage of the recovered hydrocarbons
  • Hydrocarbon: LNAPL and DNAPL

Typical Applications: Hydrocarbons in Excavations, On-site Recovery, Oily Water, Equipment Cleaning, Remediation, Intermittent Pumping
